Mission:
Investigate the Chintoka Shipyard Buildup
Location: Captains ready room
Timeline: Present
T'Lira shuttled to the where the USS Blackeagle was, having just finished being refitted. Not only was this practically a new ship but they also had a new captain.
Once her shuttle landed she went through customs and was instructed to report to the Blackeagle immediately. No rest for the weary. At least her uniform looked to be in good order.
She made her way to the docking port that the Blackeagle was moored at and took the passenger gangway to board the ship. After clearing security she was informed that the captain wanted to see her. He was in his ready room and was already informed of her arrival.
She made her way up to the bridge and pressed the chime to the captain's ready room.
"Come" Finchley replied,
T'Lira entered the room and put her PADD containing her duty jacket and training certificates, orders, etc on the Captain's desk.
"Lieutenant T'Lira Sh'Karra reporting for duty Sir." The CSO said.
"Yes, I got your file a short time ago" Finchley replied "You apparently asked for a transfer here, can you elaborate on why?"
"My last assignment was DS5 which was destroyed during the dominion war after my recovery I had various ground assignments and wanted to get back out into space. I requested an assignment to a ship that needed a science officer and the Blackeagle just happened to meet my specifications, Captain." T'Lira replied.
Finchley at back in his seat and "I've read the reports on the attack and destruction of DS5, It must have been very harrowing, escaping in shuttles and escape pods. It amazes me that as many of you made it out as did, why didn't the Dominion attack force come after you I wonder?"
"I believe it was for the sole purpose of spreading terror and fear of the Dominion. DS5 was a huge base, over 5000 plus support ships lost their lives. The few hundred of us that did survive required a lot of counseling and healing before we could return to duty. The Dominion was wrong to do that, as it mostly strengthened our resolve against them. Most of us wanted to get back into the fight immediately. We knew that anytime they attacked us we were gathering information on how to beat them. By the end of the war, their technology wasn't much more advanced than ours and we had even surpassed them in many areas." T'Lira replied.
"A tough time for you all I've no doubt, and I'm glad it didn't diminish your resolve to get back into the fray and help defeat them," Finchley replied, "There's a Mission briefing shortly, we're going up against them again, in the Chintoka system, I take it you have no qualms about that?"
"I've been to the Chintoka system, I thought the shipyards there were wiped out by largo coronal mass ejection." T'Lira stated, "No I don't have an issue going back Captain," T'Lira added.
"There's been various stories as to what happened at the shipyards" Finchley replied "The actual story is one where, in the end, the Dominion were 'defeated' and the shipyard made inoperable...let's keep that as the official line shall we" he finished.
T'Lira eyebrow went up in typical Vulcan fashion.
"Aye Captain, will there be anything else," T'Lira asked.
"No, I think we're finished" Finchley replied "Welcome to the USS Blackeagle Lieutenant, dismissed.
As the doors to his Ready Room closed, Finchley couldn't help feel there was more to this mission than met the eye. They'd find out soon enough.
