Mission:
The 'Eagle continues.
Location: Chief Intelligence Office
Timeline: Current.
After the previous nights dinner ending on a bit of a down note, Karadis now found herself back in her office the following day. Her priority one message from Admiral Hibs had been to find out why she required information on General A'axxa and who it would be shared with.
She'd told him it was for the Blackeagles current mission, and that it had been Captain Kerr who had originally requested it, but it was herself and Lieutenant Drevas whom it would be shared with. There had been some discussion on whether or not Drevas had the requisite clearance for such information and Admiral Hibs needed to go away and think it over. Sure enough, he'd come back to her and said that it was fine, Lieutenant Drevas could be cleared to get the information.
Once that was said, Karadis tapped her COMM badge and said, "Karadis to Lieutenant Drevas, please report to the Chief Intelligence Office, Karadis out."
Right up till that point, Drevas had been busy at work engaging each of his junior officers, one by one. He'd thought of gathering insight into each of their individual strengths and weaknesses first ahead of the upcoming mission, so as to work out where best to slot each of them in - until the commbadge call came in, and he could see a handful of people standing around him exchange knowing glances. God, had word gotten around that quickly, he thought to himself with a hint of irritation. Obviously, seeing the ship's supposed rough n' tough Klingon intelligence officer appear at his quarters dressed in a sexy, figure-hugging catsuit made for pretty good material for the rumor mill.
Despite that, though, Drevas had decided to simply let things be - at least, until they spiralled out of control. He rose to his feet and smacked his commbadge. "I'll be there shortly, Commander. See you soon." He shot a stony glance at one of the young ensigns who looked his way and hazarded a 'have fun, sir!' on his way out.
Drevas was at the office in very short order. His office and hers weren't that far apart, really. Standing outside the door he rang the doorbell and waited. Imagine if he tried to just walk through the door, only to be shredded by phaser beams. Or something. These places were usually pretty high clearance, after all.
At the sound of the chime, Karadis walked over and opened the doors, ushering Drevas inside. Once he was, she closed the doors and sealed the room, nobody was to gain access whilst sensitive work was underway.
"Admiral Hibs is online" Karadis just jumped right in, "he's authorised your clearance for information on General A'axxa, I want you to speak to him."
Admittedly, Drevas felt a little rush as Karadis pulled him inside the office and locked the door. After last night, he wasn't entirely sure that he'd ever be able to think of her in the exact same way again, to be honest - but that came second to the need to do his job. Especially when it came to their upcoming mission.
"I see. Alright then." He turned to face the computer monitor on her desk.
Karadis stood behind Drevas as he began his conversation with Hibs, she hoped it would go well.
"Ok, let's get right to it, the Commander has said it's your Captain who asked you to seek this information to help with your current mission, is that correct?"
"That is correct, Admiral." Drevas replied. "For which I asked Commander Karadis' assistance."
Karadis looked around Drevas and said, "I can confirm that Sir, it's why I made contact with your office." Her hand moved forward and she began lightly stroking Drevas behind with her nails, "The lieutenant here requires some help, I said I'd do so long as he 'gave me everything afterwards'..."
"Is that correct Lieutenant, will you be giving the Commander everything?" Hibs asked.
"I will provide her whatever she needs, within my means, sir." Drevas replied. God, she really was trying to test his resolve, huh? Goodness gracious. Even now, to her superior, she wasn't the least bit shy about dispensing innuendos if it made him squirm in his boots and the Admiral... well, not suspecting anything, obviously. "As I trust her to do in return, wherever she can."
"Have no fears Admiral, I'll see to it the Lieutenant gets everything he's looking for, and then some" Karadis added.
Seemingly satisfied with this, the Admiral turned his attention back to Drevas, "So, what exactly is it you want Lieutenant?"
At this point, Karadis, out of view of the Admiral again, crouched down slightly and put her hands between Drevas legs and began slowly rubbing her fingers between his scrotum and his rear end.
"Yes Lieutenant, what exactly is it you want?" Karadis asked.
"Information, sir. I have been tasked to acquire some deeply personal information about General A'axxa. His associates, personal information and so on." Drevas managed to turn a sharp hiss that was somewhere between pleasured and surprised into a cough - he did absolutely know and feel what Shr'Nesh was doing under the table and very much out of sight. Whether this was one of her lewd tests of composure and resolve didn't matter. He had to stick it through. "My own checks have revealed little so far. Hence I asked for commander Karadis' assistance,"
Karadis came back into the Admirals view, "And I'm assisting him as we speak Sir, working out certain positions that can be advantageous for us whilst we find out more on what's the best position to go for" she added.
"I suppose that's fair" the Admiral replied. He looked at Drevas, "We have a file on the General with all the details I believe you'll need Lieutenant, we'll encrypt it and send it to you now. I hope this information will help the both of you find a decent starting position to go forward with, Hibs out."
As the link closed, Karadis withdrew her hand from between Drevas legs, "You see, the Admiral knows how I can help you, you just need to learn how to help yourself" she said.
"Help myself... how? In what context?" Drevas hissed as he turned around to face her. Thank goodness the Admiral was no longer on the line - he now had a somewhat obvious tent in his trousers, thanks to her. "Is there a meaning I am not seeing?"
Karadis looked down and saw the somewhat obvious excitement that was showing in Drevas trousers. Looking back up at him she replied, "I was sure I had dropped enough hints last night, and today was about whether you understood about last night, but obviously you don't. Klingons, when they see something that they desire or want, make a play to get it. I see though that Kelpien's aren't like that, a shame really, I had hoped you were."
Drevas raised an eyebrow. "Shr'nesh, with all due respect, we are both on duty." He hissed, stepping closer to her so the two were nearly nose to nose. "Contrary to what you may think, I understood quite well the flirtations you sent my way last night, and I will admit without compunction that I was not sure exactly how I ought to respond. And while I have given it thought, in my opinion, here and now is not the place or time to act upon my thoughts." By the time the last word was out of his mouth, his jaw had set in a rather solid line.
Drevas met her eyes, amber to brown. He added then, a little more softly, "I am agreeable to exploring what I will readily admit is mutual interest when both of us are not currently on shift. As of now, however, we have a Romulan general to research and report back to captain Kerr on. I'm sure you understand where I come from," His voice had dropped to a whisper by then, soft but very much firm in tone. Klingons appreciated courage and moral integrity, as far as he knew. He needed to stand his ground - even if it didn't quite exist on the same level as hers. If she couldn't handle even that, then, as far ae Drevas was concerned, he'd gained or lost nothing. Easy as that.
Karadis knew she had him on the hook, his change in tone and demeanour showed her that. In a way, she was so happy that he was standing up to her, it was something her Klingon heritage had installed in her, a potential mate with...balls.
With their face being in such close proximity, she felt his breath on her mouth as he spoke. His new found toughness excited her and made her heart beat that little bit faster. Truth be told, she wanted to jump him there and then, but he was right, they were on duty and that had to come first, "we can both cum later..." she whispered out loud unintentionally.
Drevas' shoulders tensed, but he commented no further. "Later. For now, we have a file to decrypt, and I have my team awaiting me back below decks." He said, at last. Drevas took a deep breath and sat down, wilfully ignoring the stiffness in his pants.
"Yes, the file" Karadis said, checking for it's arrival, finding and decrypting it. She began scanning the information and as she took in what she read, her mind was blown, "Daaaaammmnnnn.....", he's well connected both in the military and political circles on Romulus. She turned and walked away from the screen, "that means he's able to insert great influence on both, because the other will back him."
"Drevas, look and see if there's any mention of his family, and what part of the social structure they're in" she said, mulling thoughts over in her mind.
Drevas sat, right next to her, and scrutinised the information on screen with an analytical eye. "His family are... middle class?" His eyebrow shot up. Honestly, he shouldn't have been surprised, when anyone could rise to stardom in this day and age, irregardless of the planet or social class from which they hailed - but it still raised eyebrows to learn that this threatening man was, in fact, ordinarily of middling gentry. "A wife, a daughter and two sons. One illegitimate, it seems." He added. "The legitimate son has chosen to reject him and lives estranged from the family, it seems."
Karadis head whipped round, "Really...", she said with interest. She clicked her fingers and pointed at the screen, "That's our way in, the estranged son!"
Her thoughts were already a concoction of plans, side plans, back ups and...
She looked back at Drevas, "Does it say what this estranged son is doing with himself?"
"He is... well. The file last places him at a Ferengi's bar." Drevas squinted at the screen in front of him. "Apparently he has disguised himself as a Vulcan in order to not arouse suspicion." He scooted aside to reveal two pictures: one of a handsome young Romulan man in his early adulthood, and another somewhat blurrier picture of an identical man in an elegant outfit that bared his chest, mid stride with a tray in hand, in a bar or speakeasy of some sort. "Tau Lunis Major, the location is,"
"So not on Romulus then" Karadis replied, somewhat deflated at the news, "What about the other children, does it say where they are and what they're doing?"
Drevas scrolled through the file a little more. "One of his daughters is a filing clerk in a local library. The other is... a schoolteacher?" He raised an eyebrow. "Oh, no. A lecturer at a local tertiary educational institute. As to the son... ah. He is an officer cadet at the Romulan Naval Academy. Goodness gracious, apparently he's won a few awards for himself already. I suspect that he'll not be a good source of information." He remarked. "What do you reckon?" He glanced to her and quirked an eyebrow.
Karadis looked at Drevas and then looked at the screen. What best to do...then she had a kind of lightbulb moment. She put herself in the Captain's shoes, thinking how he would about the mission, would he be thinking in or out of the box?
"This is Finchley Kerr we're talking about, of course it'll be out of the box!" she said loudly to herself.
She looked at Drevas, "That young naval cadet may not be a good source of information, but he'll be a damn fine hostage. I think I know what the Captain's planning, and this, THIS ..., will be right up his street!"
Drevas looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "You want to simply kidnap a Romulan officer cadet off his campus? It also says here that he is a studious cadet, with several meetings over the course of the day in his capacity as cadet wing commander," Nothing too out of the ordinary for quite possibly the most motivated cadet he'd ever seen, of course. Who would've thought? Drevas scrolled down a little more. "He keeps himself busy. His classes and consultations with his instructors leave little room for relaxation." He added.
"You just said the operative words..little time..." Karadis replied, "it didn't say he had no time. Besides, what better way to focus his Fathers mind than to tell him that if anything happens to the President of the Federation whilst he's on Romulus, we'll send little pieces of his son to him over six months."
"So you do intend to take him hostage, then." Drevas sighed. "Is there no better way to do this, that is closer to our values? That doesn't involve abducting a young man who may or may not be involved? Imagine if the Romulans did the same to us, for example."
Karadis was disappointed with Drevas, she thought he'd have more backbone, but she didn't let it show on her face.
"I take it you didn't study the Earth-Romulan War during your time at the Academy?" she asked him rhetorically, "That's exactly what they did, though it was ship crews rather than simply individuals."
"The decision on whether or not this will happen lies solely with the Captain" she carried on, "be under no illusion, if he doesn't think kidnapping him will work, he'll turn his attention to the daughters, and he won't blink twice at the thought that kidnapping one or both of them will help us with controlling A'axxa. If you have any doubts about any of this I suggest you speak up now."
Drevas' long, slender fingers drummed on the table as he mulled the situation over. "Admiral Picard is organising a fleet to give them aid, is he not? The Romulans know of this. I would very much prefer not to disrupt the shaky ties we have already built, however tenuous, by taking one of their own hostage - no matter his affiliation or lineage. You understand how it looks, of course. Therefore. I propose that we find a peaceful solution, coordinated with Romulan High Command. They too have a stake in this issue, do they not,"
Drevas turned back to the file on A'axxa and began scrolling through it. "There is a list here of whom he was affiliated with. We can assume for a start that every name here cannot be trusted, and see what diplomacy and open talks will get us with the rest." Drevas turned and looked her in the eye. "Consistency is one of the keys to building stronger, more stable relationships. You know this. I believe sticking to our values, unless all other options have been exhausted, is the best way forward. It will benefit all of us."
"Were you not listening at the briefing?" Karadis as incredulously, "We're not going in as part of Picard's aid fleet, we're going in to try and stop this breakaway faction of the Romulan High Command destabilising it!"
She got up and walked to the door, then turned back again, "The affiliations A'axxa has made are simply those with whom he's put together this faction he has, diplomacy isn't going to work, action is. Actually, do you know what, perhaps you're the wrong person Kerr gave this assignment to, he trusted you'd find a way to get the information and use it against the General. We're not the diplomatic core Lieutenant, we're Starfleet Intelligence's hit squad. If you don't know that, if you can't stomach that, then you're not with us. So I'll ask a more direct question, 'if' the Captain orders us to do this, are you going to be a part of it or do we need to replace you with someone who will?"
Drevas rose to his feet, bristling. Evidently he didn't like these circumstances. Not one bit. He stared her down, jawline set, for at least a good second or two, before finally relaxing. "I will be a part of this mission, if only because I know it will benefit everyone, both us and the Romulans, if we execute this plan perfectly." He responded tersely. "So. I will place the importance of this mission ahead of my personal feelings. Simple as that. Let us speak to captain Kerr, and see what he thinks we should do."
"No, you'll park your arse back in the Security Office, I will speak with Captain Kerr" Karadis replied, squaring up to Drevas, "He'll have all the information and facts from Admiral Hibs plus all the discussions we've had. Once he's made his decision, I will inform you of what it is. You're dismissed Lieutenant."
