Mission: Investigate the Chintoka Shipyard Buildup
Location: Cardassia Three - Substation 23
Timeline: Current.

[PAD 2]

Kilbane turned to the team and said "Ok, the Capt...sorry, Gul gave me a basic rundown of how these Cardassians work. They're arrogant, but not rude, so when we go anywhere, we do so like we belong here. When addressed by any Cardassian Senior Officer, you sound confidant, bold if you want. Each of us has a schematic of the barracks and surrounding area, if we get split up for any reason, we endeavour to make our way to the land vehicles first, they're at the furthest most part of this complex. We start there and work our way back in a spiral, vehicles then armaments then the barrack blocks. Does anyone have any questions?"

Kell nodded. "Do we have any particular destination in mind if we get stopped? As the ranking officer I'm guessing you'll be answering initial queries unless we're separated?"

"Yes" Kilbane replied "and if we're separated, remember, arrogance but not rude. Play to their ego's, they like that."

Satisfied with that, Kell follows up with another question. "I'm guessing they monitor their own comms, which we'll have to use instead of our own SF ones. Should we have any codes for our targets or just do what we can with what we can talk about?"

"Code words are transport for the vehicles, target practice for the weapons and Plebs for the barracks," Kilbane replied.

Jaal caught up with his group wearing Cardassian maintenance coveralls instead of the uniform they were wearing on the G'Lan. When he noticed he was being stared at he explained, "I found it in a storage locker. I believe I look like I belong here even more. There's more if any of you want to one."

"That's not a bad call on the coveralls" Kilbane said, "but only one of us needs to wear them, as this can work in all three situations. Right, for the vehicles, we'll need to scavenge as we go, we're not carrying explosives or side arms, so that's our first priority, let's go."

Kell didn't find it hard to suppress the snarl barely, hoping it would give her that standoffish look that no one wanted to interrupt, and therefore pull her into some conversation she wouldn't know how to handle. Fortunately she could tuck in just behind Kev and he took the brunt of anyone they met. Once they reached the other side, the vehicles in question lay waiting for their kind attentions...

“All we really need to do,” Jaal was supposing out loud, “is prevent the vehicles from starting… cut a couple wires? Decouple their power source? … I think we should keep it simple? I’ve observed in tense situations, people tend to over think what’s wrong and forget about the simple, low tech things.”

Kell nodded, considering Jaal's idea. "Can anyone hack the controls? Just lock them out or reprogram it to malfunction?" Kell knew her way around a body, so a vehicle shouldn't be much different....

Jaal’s mouth twitched. If they had more time and were more familiar with the Cardassian programming language, for sure but he felt time was of the essence. “Those are good ideas, but I still recommend something simpler and time saving like cutting a couple of critical wires.”

Kell nodded. "I can cut random wires... hopefully I don't make smoke at the time. I found a multi-tool, so I should be good to go." She quietly asks Jaal about what to cut to be effective... She fell in slightly behind Kilbane as they strode across the pad like they had a purpose, waiting to make the turn to start back and 'inspect' vehicles on the way...

Kilbane watched what was going on and wished he had explosives. That would be much more effective, he loved explosions, the force and feeling of the destruction of the enemies infrastructure excited him. He shrugged, “anything that does not draw attention to ourselves is good. Maybe!” The word hung in the air as the sound of marching feet began to be heard. “We have to hide, find somewhere?” He whispered.

Jaal pulled open the hatch from a nearby troop transport vehicle. “We should be okay in here…” He hopped inside. “C’mon,” he hoarsely whispered.

Kilbane managed to fold himself inside the space the sound of the marching footsteps coming nearer with every breath he took, “get in here! Now,” he ordered to the rest of the team.

Kell's eye widened a bit, and after an hour or so (or it seemed so at the time) she shouldered in right behind Kilbane and squeeze to the side as she felt someone's hand on her backside.

Kilbane and smiled to himself knowing he was feeling something warm and shapely underneath his hand. The only sound was their breathing which seemed to reverberate around inside the vehicle.

“Search the corridor and then the hangers, pattern delta four.” Came the corrugated sound of the Cardassian. The subservient sounds of the troopers voices indicated a force of at least five as they began opening and slamming doors and equipment making their way passed the vehicles on their way to the hangers. The sounds began to fade until they were once again in silence.

“Lieutenant Jaxom check the area is clear,” said Kilbane as his hand strayed even further in the darkness.

The Trill very slowly opened the hatch on the roof and poked his head halfway out. He rotated around searching the area for the troops that had just passed. Then he stopped moving and watched a for a few seconds.

"They've moved off..." he whispered, "Now we know where the hangers are at least." he closed the hatch quietly. Once completely back inside he asked, "You don't think they're looking for us do ya?"

Kell looked up from where she was reaching into the dash console. "Why would they be looking for us?" She cut a few wires, looking for something important.

Jaal shrugged, “Dunno… just thought they might be…” he answered as he cut wires that led to the control panel.

Kilbane nodded in satisfaction at the performance of his team, in fact he had now begun to hope that could move to the hangers and disable as many craft as they could. He turned to Jaxom, “sorry I called you Lieutenant before, it is difficult not to see you as Starfleet Officers and not just Troopers. Truly you are much more than your counterparts and I have great faith that you will get the job done. In answer to your question no, I don’t think they are looking for us. They’re search techniques are very sloppy but I have no doubt the Glinn with them would have pressed them harder if they were. I do however think the troopers are tired and disheartened which may work to our advantage if we run into any of them. Shall we continue? We have a few more vehicles to disable and then….” Kilbane smiled. “Then I think we should move into the hanger?”

T'Lira gave a furtive look around.

“Sounds good,” Jaal answered. “Their flyers may be a little better protected but shouldn’t be any more difficult to sabotage.”

Kell wiggled out of the tight confines, standing to the side to straighten her uniform. As the group continued their sojourn, she stepped to the side as each of them did, slipping into or under various craft, availing themselves to sensitive areas and wreak havoc where they may. They may not entirely disable all the craft, but they sure wouldn't be very usable for a while...

Coming out of one of the crafts, Kilbane heard footsteps coming, so raised his fist and pulled his elbow down towards himself, a sign for the team to stop what they were doing and be silent.

A troop of guards marched through the hanger, and from his vantage point, Kilbane could see they weren't the 'run of the mill' guards they'd encountered, no, these were fresh troopers. They marched with poise and purpose, their uniforms were clean, new, and their weapons were of a type he hadn't seen before.

"Now where are you all going my lovelies?" he quietly asked himself.

They stopped at a large set of doors, the officer in charge spoke to three of them and they fanned out in a defensive line. The officer approached a keypad on the door, entered a code and they began to open. Kilbane couldn't see what was inside from where he was, but he did notice that once the rest of the troopers and the officer were inside and the doors began closing, the troopers still outside changed their positions, clearly Their orders were 'None shall pass!'

"In that, we shall have to remove you" Kilbane whispered to himself again. Why would anyone, on a planet deep inside New Dominion territory, and with thousands upon thousands of Jem'Hadar soldiers close by, want secrecy inside a hanger?

"What's even more impressive is those doors are lined with neutronium. We don't have anything that can blast through them." T'Lira said.

Signaling to the others with silent 'Two go right, two go left and he would move straight up the middle' hand gestures, he sliced one finger across his throat, telling his squad to kill the guards.

"Could there be a changeling about," T'Lira asked.

Kell grimaced, nodding at Jaal who happened to be nearest her at the time. She waved him onward, falling closely behind, and hoped they'd just have one for Jaal to deal with and she wouldn't have to 'deal' with one herself.

Kilbane took the lead. Steadying himself, he stepped out from around one of the flyers and headed towards the three guards.

When they saw him, the guards immediately raised their weapons and one of them said "This is a restricted area Sir, state your business!"

"Trooper, I'm Glinn Krain of the Obsidian First Order, part of Gul Dukat's detachment. I've been asked to determine the safety of this facility when the Gul comes here shortly with Legate Navar."

"This is still a restricted area Glinn Krain, only authorised personnel are allowed access, I'm going to have to insist you leave," the Trooper replied.

"That's a real shame..." Kilbane replied.

The Trooper looked puzzled "A real shame?"

"Yes, because now I'm going to have to insist that I go in!" Kilbane replied. quickly drawing his phaser and shooting the Trooper in the chest.

"NOW!" he called out to the others.

Jaal grabbed one of the other guards by his weapon arm neatly folding it back with a sickening crack so the Cardassian couldn’t aim at anyone. Then he swung the guard hard into the wall while grabbing him by the neck with his other hand to make sure he hit head first and not just once. The last thing Jaal did was wrench his sidearm away and shoot him with it to make sure the guard would stay down.

Kell was getting ready to spring into action as she heard the sound of the guard's head slam into the wall, grimacing as it hit a second time with a softer splut. She involuntarily jerked as the weapon discharged. She looked up at Jaal with her "OH" expression, then sheepishly gave him a nervous grin and a thumbs up... She hoped T'Lira and Savette fared as well with the other guard.

The disguised Trill was surprised at his violent outburst. He typically wasn’t prone to those kind of fits. This was something he quickly decided to worry about later. He looked around to see if anyone else needed help.

Kilbane looked puzzled. ‘Kell and Savette keep a look out for more party poopers, shoot on sight. Jaal and T’Lira work on getting through those doors this area is going to be crawling with Cardassians soon enough."

Jaal nodded firmly while pulling out his tool pouch from one of the pockets in his coveralls. He went to the door controls and started pulling the cover off. Doors were usually simple things that didn't take much to hotwire. He was, however, expecting a security measure or two that would need to be bypassed.
