Jaal Jaxom waited on the shuttle deck. The Backeagle’s new security chief would be landing any moment. The Trill stood with his hands folded behind his back patiently.
Scott stood by on the shuttlecraft as they approached the Blackeagle. The ship was beautiful, he'd always had a soft spot for the Akira class, but had never actually served on one as of yet. As they came to the main shuttlebay, the pilot got clearance to land. Kayne makes sure his things were in order, and the shuttle began its final approach. Once the shuttle had landed, the doors opened, and Scott took his first steps onboard this new adventure he was about to embark on. He noticed a Trill in operations gold across the way, and recognized him from reading the crew manifest on the trip over. He spoke with one of the crewman working the shuttle bay and asked for his things to be secured until he requisitioned his quarters, the made his way over to the man.
"You must be Lieutenant Jaal Jaxom, the Chief operations officer, Scott Kayne, new Chief Of Security." He said with an outstretched hand.
Jaal shook Scott's hand, "Pleased to meet you and welcome aboard. Do you want to settle in or get a quick tour first?"
"A quick tour sounds great, it'll give me a chance to stretch my Legs." Kayne replied, "Lead on.
“All right then, follow me,” Jaal walked into the corridor speaking, “We’re currently on deck nineteen. The three decks below us are mostly engineering.”
Scott followed the Trill, "They're the ones to make the magic happen, I trust it'd be helpful to stay on Lieutenant McCrudden's good side."
"Yeah," Jaal replied seriously.
The turbo lift doors swished open. “Here’s deck seventeen, all the science labs are here.”
"Always helpful to have a good science department." Scott said.
Jaal agreed with a nod.
“Ah, deck fourteen, I expect you’ll spend a lot of time here, this is where the security department and offices are located. The brig is one deck down and only accessible from the security department here.”
"So these'll be my new digs." Scott said, looking around, "I like them, the ones at Starbase 135 were starting to seem a little cramped."
"I would think a starbase had much more room than a ship," Jaal posited.
"One would think, but when you have the entire security staff Trying to work out of four offices, on a station that size," Kayne shook his head, "Let's just say I've had plenty a coffe spilled on me." He said as he followed the Trill to the next stop on the tour.
“And here’s deck twelve, officer’s quarters and senior officer’s quarters,” here the Trill’s face darkened a bit, “Also the XO’s office. We uh… lost her during the last mission. There’s been no word on a replacement yet.”
"It's always hard to lose a Command Officer, I'm sorry," Scott said, "My last ship was destroyed on Patrol, only a few others and myself survived, I lost my Captain, so I feel your loss."
"Thanks," was all Jaal said until the reached their next destination.
“Deck ten has the forward lounge which is very nice or there’s a mess hall on deck eight.”
"I've never been one to pass up an opportunity to get some R&R in the lounge." Scott said.
"Everyone ends up here at one time or another," Jaal added.
Now a hint of pride showed in the Trill’s tone, “And here’s my domain, the operations center takes up most of deck five.”
"Very nice," Scott said, "I imagine you and I will end up working closely."
"Probably," Jaal replied, "The next major thing is the bridge and Captain Kerr's ready room. If you need anything else just let me know."
"I appreciate the tour, Lieutenant," Kayne said, "I'll see the Captain, then get settled in. I look forward to serving together." Kayne stretched out his hand once again.
Jaal shook the Scott's offered hand again. "It's gonna be a riot."
Scott grinned, "Of that I have no Doubt"
