392 words; about a 2 minute read

Mission: Investigate the Chintoka Shipyard Buildup
Location: Rendezvous point -1 hour
Timeline: Current

Kell looked around, standing next to her new companion. The lass had kept her interactions to head nods, looking warily about but keeping her head scarf partially across her face as they traveled the back alleys and cross-streets.

Kell followed suit and they made good time across town but not so hasty as to draw any attention. As they closed on their destination they slowed, watching carefully for anything that might seem out of place.

The vehicle and foot traffic has slowed significantly. Kell assumed it was because the time for curfew was drawing nigh and anyone they noticed seemed quite focused on their own journey. Nothing seemed amiss so they both nodded to each other and took a breath.

Barely keeping from making a mad dash for the door, the duo finally made it, entering as if they were expected. Kell stepped to the side and secured the door once they were clear. They waited a couple of minutes, each peeking from the corner of a window for any reaction or pursuit.

Seeing none, Kell released the breath she hadn't realized she was holding. From the sound, the woman across from her had as well.

With a wave she leads back upstairs, calling out just before reaching the room. "It's Kell..." She didn't mention she wasn't alone, just in case someone else was inside. She held up a hand behind her and went the rest of the distance by herself, just in case.

The door wasn't locked, so she wasn't surprised no one was inside. She looked around, then waved for her escort to join her. Once inside she closed and locked that door.

Checking the hidey-hole, she didn't find a message, so the others hadn't made it back yet. She sighed as she relayed this information. "I guess we get to wait now... hopefully they make it before curfew hits, but if not, and they don't want to garner any undue attention, they may have to hunker down and wait it out somewhere else."

She wasn't going to divulge what the other team was up to, just that they were out. While she hoped this woman was earnest in her role in the resistance, Kell didn't have the experience or talents of Isobel, so she had to take precautions where she could.
