Mission:
The 'Eagle continues.
Location: Counseling Offices
James decided that before things got away from him, he better set up the mandatory counseling interview. He made an appointment and at the proper time he headed for his interview. Checking with the ship's computer, he located the counseling office of one Lt. Cmdr. Isabelle Savette. Pressing the chime on her office door, he stepped back and straightened his tunic and brushed invisible dust from it.
Inside her office Isabelle looked towards the door calling whoever it was outside to enter. She smiled warmly as the door opened.
hearing a voice from inside bidding him to enter, James did. As he entered, he asked. Counselor Savette? I'm Lt. Cmd. James Westin here for my boarding psych eval."
“Welcome aboard Commander” Isabelle smiled warmly motioning towards the sofa or chair. “Please make yourself comfortable.”
"Thank you." James returned with a smile as he sat down in the chair opposite Isabelle. He then waited for the interview/eval to begin.
“Tell me Commander was your assignment here one of your choosing, or have you been thrown into the deep end so-to-speak?” Isabelle smiled.
James smiled at Isabelle's question. "To be honest I am not sure, I think it was a combination of me wanting some deep space exploration and Command putting me somewhere out of their hair." He chuckled at his last statement.
“I think that can be said for all of us!” Isabelle grinned. “So tell me more about you, why Starfleet?”
"That's true." James agreed. "As to why Starfleet. It provided the best, to explore and see new worlds. To hopefully make new discoveries about new species."
“Said like a true explorer” Isabelle smiled warmly. “Are you someone who blindly follows orders without questioning? Or are you someone who believes in questioning when necessary?”
James shook his head, "Oh, not a blind follower at all counselor. I will and have questioned orders before if for no other reason than to clarify them." He paused and looked at Isabelle. "I don't know if that makes me a good officer or a troublemaker, but it is how I am."
“Nothing wrong with clarifying orders in my opinion, just be cautious around Commodore Kerr he doesn’t like his orders questioned.” Isabelle offered a wry smile. “So, have you settled in alright? Any problems at all?”
James nodded, "Thanks for the tip on the commodore. As for settling in, "I found my quarters, went and got something from the mess hall after arriving. I'm afraid I am just now getting to unpacking and settling in."
“In that case congratulations for being so fast in getting your evaluation done.” Isabelle smiled warmly. “Most people tend to avoid the ship’s Counsellor for as long as they can.”
"Not me. No offense Counselor but I view it as a necessary evil and best to get it over and done with than to prolong the inevitable. That way I can get to my work."
Isabelle nodded. “No offence taken, I’m grateful that you’re being so honest. So are there any problems you need to talk about today?”
James shook his head, "None that I am aware of counselor. If that situation changes, you will be the first to know. I promise you that." he finished with a grin.
Isabelle nodded. “Wonderful, if only every patient made evaluations this easy!” She grinned.
James grinned, "I'll see about bring a whole list of problems next time I come to see you. Let you earn your pay." He chuckled as he said it.
“Ohh don’t worry about that!” Isabelle grinned. “One less person to worry about will be nice."
James nodded. "I heard that, and I know it will be nice to have one less patient's problems to deal with."
Isabelle nodded. “I think I’m all done, I’m happy to let you get back to your duties.”
James grinned and nodded as he rose from the chair, "Thank you Counselor for your time and interest in my well-being, I wish all exams were as pleasant as this one."
“As do I” Isabelle grinned. “Any problems please feel free to call, or drop in to see me.”
James smiled in return, "You can count on it Counselor, I promise you, I will do just that."
