Good Food, Good Drink, Great Company

Location: Alec's quarters
Timeline: After Pleasant Surprise.

*Several Days Later*

Alec had finally finished his boarding exam and settled into a routine on the Blackeagle. He had compiled the information Captain Kerr wanted in regard to the President's trip to the Romulans home world. Now he was in the process of putting the finishing touches on a romantic dinner. He looked at the chronograph, Isabelle would be arriving shortly. He lit the candles he had stored in his belongings and had soft music playing in the background.

Isabelle had been keeping busy with her new duties as Exec alongside her Counselling duties. Having two roles was certainly going to take some working out, but she’d get a handle on it. With dinner at Alec’s she didn’t want to be late so she made a point to finish her shift on time, she put on a pretty dress and headed for Alec’s Quarters.

Alec was busy checking on dinner and so far, everything was going to plan. He wanted this dinner to come off without a hitch. He thought the world of Isabelle, so it was important to him he made a good impression with this dinner. He was checking everything over when he heard the door chime sound.

Isabelle smiled as the door swished open. “Hi Alec, I hope I’m not too early? I wanted to make sure I was here on time.”

Alec smiled warmly at her "Hi Isabelle, not too early at all, Come on in." Alec replied as he stepped back to allow Isabelle into his quarters. As the door swished closed, he spoke again. "You look fantastic! Come on in and have a seat. Can I get you something to drink?"

“A Risan sunset would be lovely, thank you” Isabelle smiled warmly as she walked across to the sofa and took a seat. “Your cooking smells just devine Alec.”

One Risan sunset coming up." Alec replied as he headed into the kitchen. "I hope it tastes as well as it smells." He called back. Moments later he walked back to Isabelle, "One Risan sunset for the pretty lady.”

“Well thank you kind sir” Isabelle smiled as she took her glass and sipped her drink. “Mmm that’s just perfect.”

Alec chuckled at the compliment. "Why thank you Isabelle. Very kind of you. I aim to please. See how you feel when dinner is served." He teased. "I for one just hope you like and enjoy it."

“How could I not?” Isabelle smiled warmly. “Good company and good food makes for an overall good experience, and I’ve no doubt the food will be lovely.”

"Always positive Isabelle. I do love the way you think and for the record, I agree with you about good food and good company. I especially hope it is true about the food tonight." Alec bantered back.

“I’m sure it will be” Isabelle smiled. “It’ll be nice to be able to relax for a little while.”

Alec returned to the living room after checking on dinner. "Dinner is progressing nicely." He said with a smile. "Should be ready in about ten minutes" He nodded at Isabelle's statement. "It is great to relax Even better with someone you like and care about.”

Isabelle smiled warmly. “I didn’t think we’d see other again, let alone be assigned to the same starship. I have missed you Alec, very much.”

Alec returned the smile. "And I have missed you a great deal as well Isabelle. A very great deal. However, look at us now, back together again and about to have a nice dinner together. I can't believe our good luck."

“Are you sure my being XO isn’t going to affect our friendship? I wasn’t expecting to be asked to take up the position.” Isabelle paused. “I’m hoping it’s not a mistake on my part.”

Alec smiled at Isabelle. "I like you before you were XO, I like you as XO and if you decide it isn't for you, I will still like you." Alec replied. "Doesn't mean we won't have disagreements, but they won't be personal." He assured her.

Isabelle nodded. “Of that Im glad. I’d hate to lose what we have Alec.”

"Me too Izzy. I don't want to lose what we have either. In fact..." He hesitated a moment. "I'd like to see us take the next step."

Isabelle opened her mouth to say something before pausing for a moment in surprise. “Really? You want us to start a relationship?”

Alec nodded, words failing him for the moment. After a moment he spoke, "Yes, I do Isabelle. We know and like each other and each other's company; we have great conversations on a variety of topics We have the same interests and likes. So, yes I'd like us to start a relationship that's if you agree and are willing." He finished hopefully.

Isabelle couldn’t help but smile, truth be told she liked Alec a lot and she’d missed him while they’d been apart. “I think I’d like that, I’d like that a lot.”

Alec's face split into a radiant smile at hearing Isabelle's words. "That is wonderful! Great! Thank you, Isabelle. This is going to be so good for both of us." He walked over to where she was sitting and extended his hand to her, "Let's start off right and have a wonderful meal to kick off our new relationship status."

“I’d like that” Isabelle smiled as she took hold of Alec’s hand.

He held her hand softly, feeling her soft skin so warm to the touch beneath his fingers. "Then let us go to the table, where dinner and drink awaits us." He said smiling broadly at her.

Smiling Isabelle nodded. “Now that sounds like a very good idea.”

Alec smiled at Isabelle as he pulled out a chair for her then poured a glass of wine. "I'll be right back with dinner." He promised.

Isabelle smiled. “I’m not going anywhere, I’ll be right here waiting for you.”

"Good to know. As I'd hate for all this food to go to waste." Alec replied from the kitchen and a moment later returned with two plates of corn on the cob, carrots, a roll and for the main course butterfly pork chops. "Ta Da!" he said putting Isabelle's plate down in front of her. "I hope you enjoy it Isabelle."

“Wow, you went all out on this” Isabelle smiled warmly. “Nothing will go to waste that I promise you.”

Alec beamed at Isabelle. "I wanted to do something special for you Isabelle. To show you how special you are to me. As to nothing going to waste, I should hope not. I put a lot of time and effort into this." He bantered back, laughing as he did. "I do hope you like it Isabelle.

“What’s not to like? Everything is just perfect” Isabelle smiled warmly. “I’ve missed you Alec, and I’ve had a long time to think about how much I missed you. I don’t want to miss this opportunity for us to be together.”

Alec's eyes were fixed on Isabelle, and they shined with happiness and joy at her words. "I've missed you a great deal as well Isabelle and like I don't want to miss this opportunity for us to be together and happy."
