Mission: The 'Eagle continues.
Location: Conference Room
Timeline: Before “we’re off to see the...”

After the meeting with the captain and the other senior officers. Alec and Isabelle met in the conference room in an effort to find more information about the missing starship Ranger and more importantly the crew. It felt like they were searching for a needle in a haystack.

" Before we get started Isabelle, Would you like anything from the replicator?" Alec asked.

"A fruit juice of any kind please" Isabelle offered a warm smile as she sat looking over what they'd managed to get so far. "What kind of people leave a planet without their children? I couldn't imagine doing that to a child."

Standing at the replicator, Alec got a glass of apple juice for Isabelle and a bottle of water for himself. Walking back to her, he handed her the glass. "I don't know. They must have had what they consider good reasons to do so."

Isabelle shook her head. “If I was one of those kids I’d want bloody good answers for that. Anyway looking through what we’ve got so far it seems we have...” She paused. “Possibly 6 children, there’s nothing here to say what happened to them though. “

"Six children who disappeared. That is odd in and of itself. No paperwork, no nothing. They had to go somewhere. They may have vanished on paper but they are out there." He looked to Isabelle. "Maybe we need a different tactic. Instead on looking where they aren't, we look to where they went. Check adoption records for children adopted around that time. What do you think?"

“I think that’s a good idea” Isabelle nodded offering a smile. “If they were adopted then whoever adopted them probably never knew who they really were, or at least who their parents were.”

"Exactly." Alec replied. "Let's operate on the theory of hiding in plain sight. Those six children are out there. It's our job to find them. Which leads to another question, why were six children left behind?"

“Well, as far as I could tell from the information I got the timetable for departure was moved up.” Isabelle passed Alec a separate PADD. “Rather than delay the launch they left regardless.”

Taking the PaDD, Alec read the information it contained. He frowned . "This doesn't make sense. Why leave children behind? Unless there was a problem with these six children and the launch was moved up because of that. What sort of problem? That's another question we need to find an answer to."

“Maybe someone discovered who was really onboard the ship? Or there was some other problem that forced them to make that decision.” Isabelle paused. “Looks like we’ll have to drop Finchley’s name to get into the adoption database, I’m not getting anywhere with my clearance.”

Alec nodded at Isabelle's statement. "We can try using the Commodore's name, but I don't know how much good it will do. I mean if I was a regular employee and my boss told me to hide or erase data and their position or rank was higher than the Commodore's, he'd never get the information. So. we may have to use subterfuge to get the information we need."

Isabelle nodded. “Then we’d best get on with it.”

Some time and a lot of name dropping, and subterfuge later, Isabelle gave a more enthusiastic smile. “Now that’s what you call results!” She looked at the information they’d so far managed to gather.

“We’ve confirmed 4 boys, 2 girls left behind. Records show that all the children were located, and that they were placed together. That’s where things get murky, we have first names no surnames, and we have no idea where they were sent. The Social records bureau claim there was an accident of some sort that wiped the files from back then, It’s very odd.”

Alec nodded and added a smile of his own. "They are good results too. Six children, who have suddenly gone missing well at least according to records. There was no accident. I think it is pretty obvious we are looking at a total and complete cover up and it was done from the highest levels of government and Starfleet. The question is why? Why hide six children? What's their secret that no one wants us to know?"

“Augments” Isabelle sighed. “If these children are all augments then they’re keeping them off the radar so-to-speak. It’s not like it wouldn’t show in medical tests, someone must be keeping those records under wraps. It would raise alarms if their files were sealed, either that or they have one hell of an elaborate backstory for it.” She tapped the PADD She was holding. “I should let the Commodore know what we have so far.”

Alec shook his head he wasn't convinced. "Maybe." He said slowly, "But what if the six children were left behind because they weren't augments? Or full augments? They would be easier to hide and place right?" He nodded, "Sure thing Isabelle, let him know what we have and he can decide the next step."

Nodding Isabelle prepped the PADD with all their findings so far, she just hoped they could find out more answers.
